How to onboard the app

1

Install TetherChat

Add TetherChat to your Discord server from the Discord App Directory.

2

Authorize the app

A server admin adds TetherChat. It can then be used in any channel you grant it access to (including private channels).

How to create and connect a tether

1

Create or connect a Tether

In any channel (public or private), use the /tether slash command. Create a new Tether to get a Tether ID, or connect to an existing one by entering a Tether ID from Slack or Teams.

2

Sync with the other platform

Add the same Tether ID in the other platform’s channel. Messages will flow both ways in real time.

Use cases for Discord

  • Connect a Discord server channel to Slack or Teams for hybrid community-internal communication
  • Bridge two Discord servers (Discord-to-Discord) for events or partnerships
  • Sync community or support channels with internal Slack or Teams
  • Keep gaming, creator, or support channels aligned with external tools

Example use cases

Why teams use TetherChat with Discord: two common scenarios-sales staying in contact with potential customers, and support communicating with customers more easily.

Sales & customer communication

Sync a Discord channel with a prospect or customer’s Slack or Teams channel so sales can stay in contact in the tool their customers use. Great for creator or gaming partnerships where one side uses Discord and the other uses Slack or Teams.

Customer support

Connect your Discord support or feedback channel to the channel where your customers are (e.g. Slack or Teams). Support can communicate with customers in real time without asking them to switch apps, making it easier to help and resolve issues.
